We were watching the train wreck that is “America’s Got Talent” to see just how bad some people are that they let on that show and got a big surprise. Towards the end of the June 26th show after Jerry Springer narrated a comment of “Has New York saved the best and most beautiful for last?” they started interviewing four absolutely lovely BBWs, introduced as Ginger Snap, Caramella, Candy Apple, and Lady Finger. These ladies were known as “The Glamazons” from Astoria, NY and my Adam’s Apple got stuck seeing these ladies on camera, they were Large and In Charge and very confident in themselves. I wasn’t sure if the show was trying to make fun of the girls or show their effect on people because these ladies were definitely getting appreciative looks from some of the other participants in the waiting area.

When they took the stage there seemed to be a bit of a mixed reaction from the audience and the first comment from David Hasselhoff was, “Now here’s…the real pussycats.” to which Ginger Snap responded “the Plus-Sized version.” garnering a big smile and peace sign from the Hoff. Is it possible the Hoff is a closet BBW admirer? It did appear that some editing may have occurred because David made a comment about loving a show that just did not have any context, but it did appear that he was enjoying the view at that point.

The girls then performed “Lady Marmalade” from “Moulin Rouge” and it was obvious that if there were any detractors in the audience they had won them over. We could have done with a little less of Jerry Springer’s mug and comments but the show the girls were putting on was terrific. Their vocalization was near perfect with no perceivable mistakes in the song and their dance and show fit their song. If they had background sets and the time for a full show I believe they would have blown us away. David was dancing in his seat watching the ladies and Piers seemed to be enraptured, he reminded me of the wolf in the cartoons that sees a female wolf and his eyes bug out and tongue drops to the ground, he had that type of enraptured look.

When the girls finished their performance they were getting a standing ovation and cheers from the audience and David announced “You are the Plus-Sized Pussycat Dolls.” David then followed up with even more comments that if he was not coached to say, shows that he may not fully follow medias belief of what beautiful is as he continued with “You are about representing what you feel inside no matter what you look at, we had so many girls come on this show that come in here, they look skinny and hot, they think they got their you-know-what together and they SUCK, and you look fantastic”

The camera then changed over to Piers and he continued the praise with “Ladies, fortunately for you, I am one of those Englishmen who is really into the Curvier look. So, I was immediately drawn to your charms, and I thought if they sing how they look we were in for a bit of a treat, and that was a treat.”, so he was won over.

They change over to Sharon Osborn, bride of Rock legend Ozzy Osborn, for her comments. “Well, first of all, four very beautiful woman and you know what, more power to you because you are a great example to woman today.”

The praise-fest ends with the ladies garnering three yeses from the judges, what more could we, as BBW admirers ask for? The Glamazons are now moving on to the Semi-Finals in Las Vegas. My hope is that when the girls perform in Vegas they will be over-the-top and blow their competition away, and as a BBW Admirer my BBW Bride and I will watch on the night that they perform and vote for them as many times as possible. It would be great if a BBW group could win this competition and show the world that you do not have to be anorexic to be gorgeous and beautiful. Join us in voting The Glamazons on.

About The Glamazons (From their website): Born on a small island in a little place called the East Village the Glamazons never lost their baby fat. These song and dance girls prove that the stage is big enough for the most buxom of beauties. Giving you a large, hot helping of bawdy burlesque, striptease, go go dancing and sassy songs…they serve it up with a sexy style all their own. The girls have been described as the plus-size Pussy Cat Dolls. In 2002, Meryl Lady Finger started The Glamazons, joining together bodacious broads from all walks of life to grace the stage with their beauty and talent. Members have changed since the start of the group. Girls have left to pursue their solo careers. But Meryl fought to keep her vision alive. Candy Apple was discovered at an open call in January 2004 and the duo remained steady until they met Caramela, a plus size model, in May 2005 at a photo shoot for a book called “Big Girl Knits” (released April 2006, a book of knitting patterns for plus size gals). Then the girls cast Ginger Snap at a 12 week contest entitled America’s Next Top Glamazon. The foursome clicked immediately and have an unbelievable dynamic! They’ve crashed parties, dressing rooms and even stages. The Glamazons are 4 fierce ladies who are singing and dancing their way through New York City. They’ve performed at numerous places, including The Roxy, Avalon and The Rainbow Room. These girls have also been seen strutting their stuff on the WB Morning show on more than one occasion. They are strong, sexy, plus size women who can sing anything from showtunes to hip hop. More about the girls, their appearances, pictures and a video can be found on their website at http://glamazongirls.com

Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 in Genova, Italy and was the eldest son of Domenico Colombo and Susanna Fontanarossa. Christopher Columbus was a self taught man and is known to have very little formal education. Columbus started his expedition on the sea very early and his first voyage was to the Aegean Island of Chios in 1475. He bravely survived a shipwreck off Cape St. Vincent a year later and he had to swim ashore. Later in 1477 he sailed to England and Ireland with Portuguese marine.
Christopher married Felipa Perestello e Moniz in 1479. She gave birth to their son Diego in 1480. Unfortunately Felipa died in 1485. Later Columbus was in a relationship with Beatriz Enriquez de Harana of Cordabo who was the mother of his second son. Columbus supported Enriquez though he never marries her. During the mid 1480’s Columbus became very obsessed with his plans of discovering and his dream was to find a westward route to Asia. After trying to convince Queen Elizabeth of Castile and her husband, King Ferdinand of Aragon for nearly 7 years he succeeded in getting their support for the voyage. A professor in world geographical history Christina Freville says that Christopher was already rejected twice before finally accepting his offer.
It was on August 3rd 1492 that Columbus moved with a fleet of three ships on the Tinto river in southern Spain. The three ships were named Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria. Out of the three Columbus captained Santa Maria. On October 11, 1942 they spotted Caribbean island off southeastern North America. Christina Freville points out that Columbus at this point thought that he had made it to Asia, and called this area as Indies, and called the people as Indians.
Columbus went on a larger expedition in Sept. 25, 1493 with a fleet of 17 ships and around 1500 men to loot gold and to capture the Indians as slaves. He sailed along the length of southern Cuba. It was Columbus who spotted and named the island of Dominica on November 3, 1493. Later in 1498 Columbus went for his third expedition and sailed further south to Venezuela. Christina Freville says that Christopher Columbus was the first European to set foot in America since the Viking Leif Ericsson.
On his last expedition Christopher Columbus sailed to Mexico, Honduras and Panama in 1502. He was searching for the strait to India but did not succeed and was forced to return back. His health declined by the end of this voyage. Columbus was in a lot of pain because of arthritis and on May 20th 1506 Columbus died in Vallodid.
Christina Freville says that even though Columbus never got to the Indies he was still the greatest sailor of his time. He sailed across 5000 miles of ocean and succeeded to find the same island over and over again without having an accurate map or a device like a compass. Though he never could reach the United Stated he reached as close as 90 [...]

The alternative America job bank is probably the best it’s ever been. This is the place you’ve probably heard about because it’s where all the best and highest-paying jobs are!
There are extraordinary opportunities available all over the country right now! But you’ll have a hard time landing one from this amazing resource unless you can answer a couple of critical questions that can make all the difference in the world to your job search.
Here they are:
1. Are you ready to commit yourself to discover the REAL 21st Century job marketplace? Not the one where all you have to do is mass mail your resume to a bunch of companies or agencies and recruiters. Or post it on a few websites like monster.com or hot jobs.com?
2. Are you willing to give up the old-fashioned, passive ways of finding a job . . . e.g. waiting for the phone to ring, or sitting in an interview and meekly answering questions about your past?
If you’re ready to answer “yes” then you’re going to find that the job market is an exciting place to be these days. And you’ll be open to pursuing a job campaign plan that can have to talking face-to-face with your next boss in a matter of days!
You see, everything’s changed in America’s job bank . . . especially since 9/11 and Katrina. The old-fashioned ways of finding a job are OUT . . . unless you’re content with waiting for weeks or months for something to develop. And then winding up with something you have to take out of desperation.
When you say “yes” to those critical questions, here’s what you must do to address this exciting alternative resource:
1. Build a highly-desirable product . . . YOU!
2. Consider the job marketplace as a competitive arena.
3. Package yourself in a way to attract maximum attention.
4. Think of prospective employers as buyers of your product.
5. Target only those employers who are right for you.
5. Promote yourself to them by every available means.
6. Master effective selling techniques.
7. Negotiate like a pro.
In short, you have to learn how to become a “job entrepreneur.” But the good news is when you’ve mastered a few simple alternative job search strategies, you can hit the America’s remarkable job market running. You can be entertaining real job offers in as little as two weeks! Check it out. Your future depends on it!

We all think that we get all our style from Milan but that’s a lie. While visiting in Italy we discovered that it’s exactly the opposite. When you look through those glass windows, all you see is black, white, and a pinch of tan. But in America, when you glance through the windows you see color, color, and of course a little dark.
In Italy the stuff is small and plain. We aren’t saying that the stuff is bad…it’s just different. A very common thing to see in a shop window is a black and/or white dress, with a small pearl bracelet. But if you look at how people really dress in Italy, they don’t wear exactly what’s in the shop window, but it is just like one color, example: blue shirt, blue jeans, white tank, white skirt, etc.
America’s style is VERY different. It’s all about BIG, BOLD, and of course COLOR! Everything you see in a shop window is big and bright, and makes you want to come in. When you walk in side you see two things…one: a modern version of the 80’s…two: colors everywhere. We pile acessories like beads on a necklace. A normal outfit is a ruffled purple top with white jeans, and colorful pumps.
So if someone ever says to you, “Italian and American styles are like exactly the same” tell them to think again. Say to them, “Though each style is unique and totally different, they both know how to dress”.
Now that you know the difference you should probably tell people, so they aren’t ‘off’. So let’s review: Italy has mostly darker plainer, (but still cute) stuff. America has big, bright, bold, bulky, colorful, and most definatley not plain styles.
Which one do you like more???

The Big Lie About Diets:
I often wonder; when did America get so fat and why did the rest of the English speaking world follow? Nobody seems to remember a time when most people were slim. I am sure there are people who believe we have always been predominantly fat.
I am not sure precisely when I first wondered; when did america get so fat? Like most people I was slow to notice. But unlike most people, I do remember when and how it began.
When self proclaimed experts try to create a truth out of false statements, all they have to do is repeat it often enough, to enough people to make it a fact. That is unless somebody speaks up and proves otherwise. Sometimes, by then it can be too late.
If no one intervenes these same false statements move from facts to dogma. Usually that means nobody dares to challenge it. By that time, there is often no one left who can remember how the dogma came to be or, who started the myth in the first place.
The only thing that will expose false dogma is the courage to shine a bright light on it and demand the proof. Even then, that may not be enough. You see, such a challenge is usually up against overwhelming vested interests.
To give you an example: About eight years ago the CSIRO, the most respected science research facility in Australia, decided to do the first ever, serious, scientific study of diets and dieting.
Three years later, they published a paper which, amongst other things, made the excessive use of cereals and grains the reason why diets were making people fatter instead of slimmer. They said if you eat correctly, as people once did, by instinct, few people would need to diet. There was an immediate outcry of abuse from nutritionist. It was supported by the cereal and diet food manufacturers.
The CSIRO retaliated by publishing their own diet book on how to get slim and to stay that way. The nutritionists, who already had regular spots on TV and columns in newspapers, went on a massive publicity campaign to vilify the CSIRO and their evil, misguided results. They claimed their own research proved that a healthy balance diet, as developed by their own research proved theirs was the only way for people to lose weight and become healthy.
It seems the CSIRO had finally had enough. A spokesman appeared to make a brief statement. I do not remember the words he used but it went something like this: We are a highly respected, scientific research facility. We have done three years intensive study on diets and dieting and our findings have been published in the appropriate journals. If anyone has reason to dispute our findings and can show evidence, I suggest they publish their own findings.
This was a big reality check for nutritionists because they would have suddenly realized that the dogma on which they base their philosophy does not have a leg to stand on. For thirty [...]

For thirty years, they have not had their diets put through a single scientific test nor has any diet ever been subjected to human trials. So the Nutritionists retreated and things calmed down.

At this point you may think that the public would prefer to accept the science instead of the hype, and that we had seen the last of the diet industry, but that is not how it went down. Sure the entire diet industry was silenced for a while and the CSIRO sold a lot of books. But it didn’t take long for the diet industry to recover and regroup.

Nutritionists announced that they had been in intense study and had discovered that the true cause of the ever growing weight problems were due to fat. If you eat fat you get fat. To lose weight, all you have to do is to remove most of the fat from your diet. Fortunately they already had a diet ready for us.

It was a very seductive notion which made people throw away their old diet books for the new shiny fat free diet. Very soon, the carbohydrates were back to replace all that missing fat. The butchers trimmed their meat till it was almost tasteless and the diet food manufacturers launched a whole new range of fat free products.

The CSIRO did not bother to make an appearance to explain that the fat we eat is easily turned into glucose by the body and it is burned for energy, while carbohydrate has to be processed, with some difficulty, by our metabolism which tends to turn it into body fat.

I am sure you know the kind of fat I’m talking about? It sticks to your body and refuses to budge. That is to protect you against the famine. What famine you ask? Each time you reduce your calorie intake for a diet your brain will alert your metabolism to guard against yet another famine.

Your brain does not know that you choose to deprive your body of food. It senses only a threat and it begins to convert all the carbohydrate you eat into body fat. That is precisely why diet do not work…Ever!

So next time you ask yourself when did america get so fat. Have another read of this article, or find even more information below.

English actress Carey Hannah Mulligan has been coming out in hit after hit red carpet looks recently and the latest one she wore at the Directors Guild of America Awards on January 30 is definitely another one to remember.
While her acting debut was as Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice, she really first became famous after starring as Jenny in An Education. For her performance, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and an Academy Award for Best Actress. Since then she has starred in a couple of different movies, but we all look forward to seeing her in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
At the 2010 Directors Guild of America Awards, Carey Mulligan managed to pull off these quirky looks which very few actresses can. If the young actress continues on with this fashion streak in addition to her amazing acting skils, people will soon stop referring to her simply as “Shia Le Beouf’s girlfriend”. Born as late as in 1985, Carey Mulligan definitely has the future ahead of her.
At the 2010 Directors Guild of America Awards, Carey Mulligan wore a one-shoulder dress from the Lanvin Spring 2010 RTW Collection and Gianvito Rossi Organza ankle strap sandals. It is details like unfinished edges and foot-embracing shoes that win it for the talented actress.
If you get to see the Gianvito Rossi Organza ankle strap sandals up close, you will discover that the sheerness, the leather trim, and those black ribbons that thread through metal eyelets really up the sexy factor on this particular piece of footwear.
Basically it is the construction, the shoe shape, and the straps placement that make these sandals so attractive on Carey. The way the shoe meets at the center lengthens the foot and adds height despite the thickness of the straps.
With more and more money in her pockets, at least economic concerns will not be stopping the English star from finding equally attractive outfits and footwear also in the future. The world looks forward to seeing what the young lady will come up with next.

Brazil is the largest and most populated country in South America, and is fifth largest in the world in both area and population. Portuguese is the only official language of Brazil which is spoken by nearly the entire population. In fact, Brazil is the only country in the America’s in which Portuguese is their primary language.
If you look at a map of Brazil, you can see that it borders almost every other South American country except Ecuador and Chile. Brazil is divided up into 5 regions. The North Region, which is by far the largest, Northeast Region, Center-west Region, South Region and the Southeast Region, home of the most famous and popular destinations Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The capital of Brazil is Brasilia, and with 11 million plus people, Sao Paulo is its largest city. Sao Paulo Brazil is also one of the largest cities by area and population in the southern hemisphere.
Brazil has a large selection of outdoor activities available for tourists and locals alike. You can hike, surf, dive, go rafting, play golf, volleyball, soccer, fish or virtually anything else you may want to do in the great outdoors you can do here in Brazil. Like most places in the world as of late, Cave exploring is now a very popular commode and with about 2, 800 registered Caves, the tourism industry has never been brighter.
Brazil is, of course, is also home to over 60% of the Amazon Rainforest. The Rainforest itself has some 5.5 million kilometres in total size within 8 different countries. The Rainforest also has much wildlife and some species that even still have yet to be discovered. The very sad thing about this habitat is that by the year 2020, it is estimated that 50% of the Brazilian wildlife will become extinct!! It is so bad that since 1970, over 500 square kilometres have been lost in this beautiful forest.
One more thing to remember while in Brazil is that street violence in certain areas of the major cities could get very harsh and dangerous. Don’t let this stop you from going to go visit a remarkable place, just be cautious. Make sure you don’t bring a lot of money with you at one time, don’t walk around at night in places you don’t know and if possible travelling in groups is a great idea. It is also a good idea to make sure you ALWAYS have a photo ID on you. The Brazilian police can ask for such things anytime, and you don’t want to constantly have your passport on you. A photocopy is a must have, so be sure you carry those around and leave the original in a safe place.
Whether you are looking for a beautiful beach, a glimpse of the absolutely stunning Amazon Rainforest, or the mile high sky scrapers in downtown Sao Paolo, Brazil has a little something to offer to any travel adventurer.
